Answers to a few questions asked:
Simply enough, I thought it would be fun. A woman's mind is far more complex than a man's. There's so much irrationality going on inside that it provides more substance for a story. The experience gave me a better understanding of the female psychosis--I mean, psyche.
Why did you complicate Angel Soren's life with a baby?
Why not? The point of a story is conflict. What better conflict is there than what comes from a family. Although Raven doesn't cause her mother too many problems herself, the idea of raising a baby alone is problematic, no matter what a woman does for a living. Character development is never fully realized without giving the character a family, fleshing them out, and bringing them into the mix.
Do you believe all cops are dysfunctional?
Not all, just most. They're only human after all. It would be unfair to think they're some alien species separate from humanity, imbued with the Holy Spirit of the Law that makes them infallible. On the contrary, they spend so much time among the dregs of society that it's inevitable they haven't lost concept of the line separating right from wrong.
How do you know so much about police and police procedure?
Scary friends.
Do you believe the changes in the Constitution you created could actually happen?
Never in my lifetime. The people of this era are unbelievably forgiving of the murderous, psychotic, and just plain evil of society. For some reason, they think they can rehabilitate these monsters. I can't understand it. The aforementioned are a cancer that will never be tempted back from the dark side. Yet the human spirit prevails in thinking it can turn every bad seed into a sunflower, no matter how many aspiring lives these poisonous weeds choke out in the meantime. It makes me wonder who's really guilty.
That's a pretty harsh attitude to have. Does it make a lot of people uncomfortable?
I am the voice of your inner conscious. There's a reason why people don't want to listen.
